Worst Job Ever
May 12, 2006. Guilin Airport.
Worst Job to Have: Airline personnel for a Chinese airline in China in charge of a delayed flight.
Reason: Chinese people are vicious, especially when they are not getting what they want. If they had to pay for it, then it better be exactly what they wanted and asked for. On the occasion when things are not going their way, they will lash out at whoever they can get their hands on even if said person has no power nor authority to change the situation. In the above mentioned situation, the personnel receives the blunt of the attack while still being required to smile at the customers.
Light at the End of the Tunnel: Fortunately, the airline is relatively considerate towards the employees. While on one hand, the person who is actually in charge of the flight will not be accessible by anyone face-to-face, via the phone or email, on the other hand, the airline understands the viciousness of their customers. There were 4 or 5 personnel changes in the 6 hours we were stuck in Guilin.
