Cheating Businesses

May 13, 2006. Shenzhen, China.

Our request: To have 2 dresses and a wool coat made in 3 days. Another 2 coats and shirt finished by mid June.
Owner's promise: They will be done per request.

Result:

• When my dad arrived to pick up the clothes on the 12th, he was told that 1 of the dresses was not completed. When asked why, the tailor shop owner gave a list of excuses. My dad blew up at the owner.
• When my dad dropped by the next day to see whether any progress had been made, he was given 1 dress, 1 of the June coats and the June shirt.
• When we tried the clothes on at home, NOTHING fit properly. 1 of the dresses was at least 4 sizes too big and in the wrong style! (And yes, we were measured.)

You can just image how angry I became. If the tailor couldn't make the clothes properly in the time frame requested, he shouldn't have said yes. My mother is a repeat customer. Tailors make most of their money from repeat business. How stupid is he?! It is bad enough that he messed up the dress, but to rush the other clothes and do a bad job at them too? I make clothes. And yes, even if you measure properly, the clothes may not come out perfectly, but to be THAT different from the measured size? It's ridiculous.

Yes, I am venting.

And no, my parents will never use this @#&$*@#&*$ dude again.

He was stupid to lose our business.
