Right hand rules, left hand questions

Sunday, February 15, 2009. Mumbai, India

Fact: In India, the left hand is used to clean yourself after using the bathroom and therefore considered unclean.
Fact: When eating, it is appropriate to use the right hand and not the left.
Fact: When interacting with others such as giving or receiving things, it is polite to use the right hand or both hands and not with the left hand.
Fact: It is not only common for adults to hold hand with children, but also men with men and women with women.

Question: What happens if you're left-handed? Do you have to learn to become much more ambidextrous?
Question: When two people are holding hands, one uses the right and the other uses the left. Is the person offering the right hand considered more polite? Or is the person who offers the left hand considered more "superior"? Or does the right hand rule simply not apply in these cases?
