Observations at Thai schools

- Students (ages 7-13) are responsible for putting out any brush fires that start on school grounds. The boys will act as firemen and use the hose and the girls will carry tubs (~1 yard in diameter) filled with water to put out the fire. Teachers will stand and watch or stay in their classrooms.
- Although extremely affectionate (with all the kisses and hugs), students, when taught the verbs to kiss and to hug, are reluctant to kiss and hug when asked to do so.
- Little kids can be the sweet and adorably demure one minute, and complete devils the next.
