A surreal sculpture park

Yesterday afternoon, I rode my bike with a couple of other volunteers to the Sala Kaew Ku Sculpture Park. Most of the sculptures in this park are Hindu or Buddhist images. But they are not your typical religious sculptures.

At first glance, this looks simply like a sculpture of the highly revered elephant surrounded by dogs.

After a closer look, you will see that these are not normal dogs. Yes, that is a dog on a vespa.

One part of the park is dedicated to sculptures about the circle of life. As you walk around a circular pathway, the sculptures on either side depict images of birth, childhood, marriage, jobs, etc. This one was particularly interesting.

This is a sculpture of a man beating his wife after she found out that he is cheating on her with the woman standing to his left.

I refuse to accept this as an inevitable event in the circle of life.
